If you look up the word “ chou” in the dictionary, you will find definitions like “super-,” “ultra-,” or perhaps “uber-” (alright I guess that one’s a bit dated…). Instead of saying something is 「とても美味しい,」 we’re going to say it’s 「超美味しい」( “chou oishii,” “super delicious”).

Now that we know how to use “ totemo” in Japanese, it’s time to slang it up a bit. The comedian we saw yesterday was so funny!

Kinou mita komedian wa totemo omoshirokatta ne! Totemo is also used when the speaker is speaking to people unknown to them and to people with whom they want to make a good impression on and keep a good relationship with. It is mainly used by people who are out of school and deal with other adults, superiors, and bosses on a daily basis. It is used in both casual and formal speech.

Totemo is an ad verb that describes adjectives. Think of it like saying something is 「とても美味しい」( “Totemo oishii,” “really good”) vs.「とっても美味しい」( “Tottemo oishii,” “really REALLY good”). The difference between the two is that the latter places more emphasis. You can also add an extra T in the center of totemo to make it tottemo (とっても). The most textbook way of saying “very” in Japanese is by using the word totemo (とても). Today, we’re going to learn three different levels of “very” in Japanese using the words “ totemo, ” “ chou, ” and “ meccha. It’s REALLY oishii ! But, no, wait, it’s not just REALLY oishii, it’s GOD-IN-YOUR-MOUTH oishii ! “ Oishii !” (“This is so delicious!”) you want to say, but it’s not just oishii. Totemo(とても), Chou(ちょう), Meccha(めっちゃ) : Japanese Common Phrases That Mean “Very” 1 Totemo(とても), Chou(ちょう), Meccha(めっちゃ) : Japanese Common Phrases That Mean “Very”.Overall, The Loud House is a good show(not great) that is worth checking out if you have interest. One final note that I have is the animation of the show, it is fast paced and it seems to fit the show's characters and premise decently. However, the writers do sometimes a good job at making a different way of looking at these clichés and jokes by following the good stories that they write for the show. Like Ricky Sprocket, Planet Sheen and Breadwinners, I love them but people takes them WAY to seriously to the point where they had to treat them like the worst things they saw in their lives. Something that I somewhat had a problem with in this show is that the the people can't stand this show. There is even that Zoo Keeper guy, who is also an OK character, especially being picky of G's friends, he can honestly be a little bit of a jerk. The other characters of the show I honestly think are OK, that includes the manager guy named Rudie, I mainly have seen him as witty comic relief, but he isn't a bad character.

The final one is the bubble wizard, Madame Shhhh, she gets some laughs mainly when she uses her jokes or tricks on some of the Harajuku girls. Chuy is the Boo-parodying Pomerania, seems sometimes to me as like a good image to G. Out of the other characters, 3 of them stick out to me as absolutely great characters: General No Fun is the anti-fun Nazi that is surprisingly really funny by how childish and comedic he can be. G is the main character, she is a unique and memorable leader, and I honestly do like how she helps her teammates in a calm manner.

What's great about this show is a few of the characters. Creative stories like this remind me of the underrated Canadian show, Grojband, it is debatable if this show falls in that category. The show has a very interesting premise, about a group of pop artist and their manager going on kawaii adventures (pun intended). Kuu Kuu Harajuku is a fun, fast paced show that has a respect for its audience by not being too much in their faces.
